Our Roots

“Emil Racoviţă 2000” Youth Association was founded in April 2001, at the initiative of a group of young people willing to promote the values of the European democratic institutions and to encourage the volunteering activities in a society where this segment was only at its beginning.

Bringing Change

Despite the fact that “Emil Racoviţă 2000” Youth Association is young, it works with important institutions in Vaslui county, such as the County Direction of Youth and Sports, the Culture Inspectorate, the local Police, the Town Hall etc. Most of its members are students of “Emil Racoviţă” Theoretical High School, teachers, engineers, their youth and enthusiasm being a major factor in the actions that have been accomplished.

Ever since its foundation, “Emil Racoviţă 2000” Youth Association has carried on activities in partnership with the County Direction of Youth and Sports, such as planting trees, gathering wastes, with the Environmental Protection Inspectorate and the School Inspectorate Vaslui, with Vaslui Town Hall.

Bringing Change

Because the volunteering activity is new among the young people, the strategy of “Emil Racovita 2000” Youth Association is to promote this very important aspect of the civic life among the High school students. Consequently, the members of the association usually get involved in partnerships with schools of the county and with the local public authorities in a series of projects, adding their experience acquired during the previous volunteer projects.

So, all projects carried out by “Emil Racovita” Theoretical High School of Vaslui, having “Emil Racovita 2000” Youth Association as the associated partnership, gave an extra value to the projects.
Although the majority of projects of the Association have an environmental value, the opening of its active members towards all types of projects has made this NGO extremely dynamic and the challenges of each project have brought a bonus to the experience of its young participants.
